Care instruction for your Norvic knife.

Below are instruction on knife care and use to maintain your warranty.

Cleaning of Norvic knives

First-time use: Rinse the knife through hot water and dry thoroughly.

After each use clean your knife with warn water and soap. Hot water alone will suffice if you prefer not to use soap.

Dry immediately using a soft cloth or kitchen towel to prevent rust marks.

We strongly recommend not using a dishwasher to clean Norvic knives, Dishwasher use will void warranty.

If your knife has a wooden handle we recommend regularly treating with linseed oil or beeswax to maintain colour and finish.

Correct use of your Norvic knife

Always use a cutting board while using knives, We recommend Acacia due to its natural anti-microbial qualities. Hard surface cutting boards like glass, granite etc can damage and chip your blade voiding warranty.

Ensure you use the correct knife for the task. Be carful when working with foodstuffs that contain bones, like meat and chicken, or frozen products. We recommend using a suitable cleaver for heavy duty tasks.

Safe storage of knives

Always store knives in a safe space away from children's reach.

Avoid leaving your knife in the sink, you have the risk of injury and damage by other utensils and exposure to water, causing rust.

Never store your knife in a drawer on top of other knives unless using a sheath, knife block, magnetic mount or specialised bag.

Sharpening and Honing

Regular Sharpening: Keeping your blade sharp makes cooking more enjoyable and safer, as blunt knives require more force to cut, increasing the likelihood of accident. For frequent cooks, once a month is ideal if your knife can no longer cut cleanly through paper, its time for a sharpen up. We recommend learning how to we a diamond sharpener and leather strop, but some roller sharpeners on the market are very effective and require less practice.

Honing: Use a honing steel or preferably leather strop maintain the blades alignment between sharpening's, this is very effective at maintaining performance and prolongs the time between full sharpening's.

Occasionally lightly oil your knife to prevent rust and maintain its longevity.
